The 23rd Yokohama Dance Collection (2018), for which the theme will be ‘SESSION/TRACE/HOME ’, includes the premieres by cross-disciplinary artists active on the global stage, newly created and re-created works by choreographers who are leading artists in contemporary dance in Japan and overseas, and ambitious works by choreographers who have won prizes in the competitions at the Yokohama Dance Collection in recent years.

A. Jérémie Bélingard | Keiichiro Shibuya | Justine Emard "Parade for the End of the World"

With music by Erik Satie, costumes and set by Pablo Picasso, script by Jean Cocteau, and choreography by Nijinsky’s successor, Léonide Massine, “Parade” was first performed by the Ballets Russes at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in 1917. To commemorate the centennial of the premiere, Jérémie Belingard, Shibuya Keiichiro, and Justine Emard have created a fresh interpretation where body, music, and video blend together in harmonious layers.

B. Misako Terada "Trilogy"

Trained as a ballet dancer in childhood before crossing into the discipline of contemporary dance, Terada Misako’s creation expresses the “sharing” of her own body with other people. The trilogy is a co-production with Jung Young Doo, Tsukahara Yuya, and Marcelo Evelin, three choreographers of different generations, backgrounds, and careers in dancing.
