• Profile: The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) seeks to promote better mutual understanding between the peoples of Asia and Europe through greater intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges. Established in February 1997 by the members of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), ASEF is based in Singapore and reports to a board of 39 governors representing the 38 ASEM countries and the European Commission.
One way ASEF carries out its mandate is by creating its own projects. Some of these initiatives include Asia-Europe Lecture, Asia-Europe Young Artists’ Painting Competition and Exhibition, Informal Human Rights Seminar, Asia-Europe Youth Co-operation Network, and ASEF Editors’ Roundtable. |

• Profile: The Australia Council is the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body. It supports and promotes contemporary dance, theatre, music, literature, visual arts, craft, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, community cultural development and new media arts.
This will be the 10th year Australia has participated in TPAM and our promotion will focus on contemporary music, theatre and dance. Through attendance at TPAM, Council can build relationships with Japanese and Asian partners, promote contemporary Australian performing arts and develop reciprocal opportunities for Australian and Japanese artists. |

Profile: “The Contemporary Theatrical Posters Collection, Preservation, and Exhibition Project” founded in 1994 as part of Poster Hari’s Company, Inc. Acts to collect, preserve, and exhibit performing arts posters from the 1960s onward, seeking to activate research in several fields as well as theatre itself. The Project’s substantial collection is particularly well-regarded for its 60s and 70s posters. Its “Contemporary Japanese Theatrical Posters Exhibition” toured Australia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic in 1996.
