Symposium vol.1: Toward a Conference in Asia

A conference in Asia was one of the objectives in the original plan of ON-PAM, and it is planned to be held along with a festival in Gwangju, Korea, in September 2015. In this symposium, we have the person in charge from Asian Arts Theatre in the Asian Culture Complex in Gwangju explain the outline of the festival that is going to be held in autumn 2015. Also, we would like to discuss the idea of international network that ON-PAM should pursue and its necessity with the international performing arts managers who participate in the joint project TPAM in Yokohama.

Symposium vol.2: Performing Arts Managers’ Future Career Building and “Learning”

If the first step in a performing arts manager’s career is to become able to make their living with the income from their work in the sector, the next step should be about how to develop and continue the work. This “second step” should require fundamental “learning” that enables them to update their own thoughts and careers, and that should be a different effort from skill building in their regular work. Following what we discussed in a meeting of our Committee on Cultural Policy that was held in September 2014, “From Personnel Training to Sustainable Career Building: The Employment / Labor Environment of Performing Arts Managers,” we would like to consider feasible models of “future career building” of performing arts managers who together with the guests and participants.
