Profile: Incorporated as a Dance Company in 1992, Nomade~s has been active in the contemporary dance field under the tutelage of company leader KUMAGAI Noriko and IKEMIYA Nakao. Nomade~s claims to search for undiscovered methods of expression that fit our modern society. Profile: Founded by OHASHI Kakuya, a choreographer and dancer who had studied butoh's choreography method. Through activities, they are pursuing the problem, "What is dance?" Performers in their piece seem to be unrelated each other at first sight as if they are showing dis-communications. However, OHASHI Kakuya and Dancers is challenging to produce a novel way of communication, a moment of a birth of choreography basing on impossibility of communication. That is quite contrast with lots of other contemporary dance piece which tend to produce relationships between performances without any doubt on possibilities of communication. Also, their works are influenced by contemporary social problems such as psychological or sexual abuse, and they are trying to transform aspect of the problems.

Profile: Since its debut in 1994, international dance company, Leni-Basso, has been at the cutting edge of the contemporary dance scene in the exciting, multicultural city of Tokyo. Making its own contribution to the questioning and experimental spirit within the stream of contemporary dance worldwide, Leni-Basso, under the artistic direction of KITAMURA Akiko, continues to explore the potential of dance and its own discourses of communication. Their performances were chosen as the best performance of the year 2005 in Montreal. They will tour in Europe and Asia in 2008.

Profile: The company creates an original and unique "world" on stage based on Koh-Toh-Shi's texts and poetry that are lyrical as well as hard. On the basis of his own theory of bodily movement the company fuses images, music, and arts into an expression that transcends all distinctions between different forms of "art." It aims at creating a distinctive theatrical expression that refuses all categorization.

Profile: The goals of J.T.D. are in increase in autonomous activities on the part of the deaf, and the creation of dramas based on their point of view. Profile: “Kanjyuku (Ripe) za”, an amateur theatrical troupe, consists of members 60 years old and over. In 2007, we gave successful premiere stage performance in March and staged a small play in autumn at welfare center in Tokyo. We are not that old and want to show what we can do: we are still very much in the Prime of Our Life! At present, eighteen members from 70 years old down meet twice a week to seriously study acting. Our second stage performance will be in April 2008. Original script entitled “Cherry Blossom” incorporates our high school memories: watch how we transform into high school teenagers on the stage!

Profile: In 1982, the performing arts company “Pappa TARAHUMARA” was formed by KOIKE Hiroshi, its Artistic Director. Since then, Pappa TARAHUMARA has fused theater, dance, and music as one art. Pappa TARAHUMARA has been producing its stages as enriched with its originality, leaving an indelible impression on audiences’ visual and auditory senses. Koike has his own clear statement of three main elements of performing arts as art. 1. Space, 2. Time, 3. Body. It is Koike’s idea that, for conditions in which these three elements are clear, performing arts can take any form.
