Cry Jailolo, presented in TPAM 2015 and then had a large-scale international tour, was created by Eko Supriyanto in a residence in Jailolo Island, Indonesia. He and a producer introduce the new work BALABALA, on which he has been working with a new point of view, again in a residence in the Island.

Dr. Eko Supriyanto MFA

Founder and artistic director for EkosDance Company, Eko Supriyanto is the leading Indonesian dancer and choreographer of his generation. His performance career spans major works, commercial productions and dance research projects. Cry Jailolo, Eko’s most recent major work received great acclaim and extensive tours throughout Europe, Japan Australia and Singapore. In connection to this work he has developed a discourse on Silent Tourism and performance research entitled The Future of Dance is Under Water.

Jala Adolphus

Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Jala Adolphus is an independent producer and Editor of “Tanzconnexions”, the the Goethe Institut platform for contemporary dance in the Asia Pacific. Jala produces for a selection of leading Indonesian choreographers and directors that work across the mediums of stage and film including Eko Supriyanto, Garin Nugroho, Rianto and Nan Jombang Dance. In 2013 Jala worked within the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for the Indonesia Performing Arts Market, IPAM 2013 and has since worked on Indonesian programming with Australian and European international festivals.
