The dance performance extracts from select works of the Tableau Stations series to create a unique experiment and interdisciplinary composition. Amidst long distance travels, walks, and site specific collaborations, it reflects on a sense of stability, direction, and appearance. Key are the traces carried and the back of the body as a demarcation of departure and access. Here, the performance integrates site-specific videos and photographs spanning the Tokaido railway line and the Yamaguchi area in Japan, as well as in a varied collection of international contexts in an intimate dialog of the global, local, and the fleeting. As an ongoing inquiry to meeting people and place, the work will be performed by a four person ensemble constructed specifically for TPAM.

Tableau Stations / Isak Immanuel

Tableau Stations is an interdisciplinary arts platform engaging local and global questions of place. It was initiated by dancer, visual artist, and choreographer Isak Immanuel (with the project Floor of Sky in 2004). Ongoing, a central inquiry is on how to negotiate contemporary public spaces of a city with the intimacies and economies of individual bodies. Numerous works have been researched, created, and presented internationally and by collaboration. Including, with Anna Halprin (US), Yuko Kaseki (Germany), Surjit Nongmeikapam (India), Luigi Coppola (Italy), Katsura Kan (Japan), Anu Kaliting Sadipongan (Taiwan), and recently at Dance Box-Kobe/MaizuruRB, Akiyoshidai International Art Village, Attakkalari India Biennial, Taipei Artist Village, Fabrica Europa, no ballet, Dock 11-Berlin, and CounterPulse, SOMArts, Djerassi, and Headlands Center for the Arts in the SF Bay Area, US.
